Technologies

The benchsys-lab solution relies on robust technologies to offer a maximum of flexibility to the users. It combines the Adaptative Case Management concept, the Eclipse RCP platform and a robust SQL database.

Adaptive Case Management

Case management is a combination of workflow, content management, business rules, portal and collaboration tools, which collectively allow for the completion from a single point of access of an entire "case" or unit of work. "Adaptive" refers to the need for knowledge worker of support systems that are not explicated, programmed or hard-coded by specialists but instead can be dynamically modified by ordinary users in the course of their work.

RCP

Eclipse RCP is a platform for building and deploying rich client applications that are based on fixed or user defined sets of synchronized data views with drag-and-drop behavior of all objects. It is based on the OSGi standard, the ability to deploy native GUI applications to a variety of desktop operating systems, such as Windows, Linux and Mac OSX and an integrated update mechanism for secure deployment of desktop applications from a central server. The modular approach of benchsys-lab, in association to a CORBA interface made available to the user, eases the development and integration of user modules.

SQL database

benchsys-lab uses a conceptual objects representation layer implemented on a robust Oracle, SQL-server or PostgreSQL relational-database. It frees the users from the table view of these databases by allowing the adaption of the knowledge structure using their own languages.
